PEP人教版四年级下册  Unit 1 My School  Part C Story Time  Ⅰ. Teaching aims: Knowledge aims  (1) Students can understand the new expressions, How beautiful!  (2) Review the words, library, music room, gym, computer room, lunch room. (3) Students can master the sentence patterns “Is this the…?”, “This is the…” Ability aims  (1) Students can use the expressions Welcome to our school! This is the…to introduce their school. (2) Students can choose some school’s different places to guide the school’s visit as a group. Emotional aims  (1) Students can strengthen the love to school. (2) Students can develop cooperative consciousness. Ⅱ. Teaching key and difficult points Key points: How to guide the schools’ visit.  Difficult points: Ss can guide the schools’ visit in the group. Ⅲ. Teaching methods  Communicative approach, task-based method, situational teaching method. Ⅳ. Teaching procedure Step 1: Before the story  1. Watch a video about our school. The scenery pictures of our school. T: What do you want to say to our school? T: I have an useful expression: How beautiful! Encourage Ss to say the sentence emotionally. 2. Talk about school’s different rooms. What do we have in our school? We have a/a______.  3. Show pictures and talk about the different rooms. eg: Where is it? What are they doing?  Is it a computer room? Is it a classroom?  No. No. It is our library.  T: Wow, We learn and play in such a school! How cool!  Step 2 While the story  1. Two questions to predict the whole story. T: Today we will go to visit another school.  Show the first picture of the story. (Mr. Hippo or Zoom?). Q1: Whose school will we go?  After Ss’ guessing, show the words of the Mr Hippo (Welcome to our school. This way, please.)and guide Ss know that we will visit Mr Hippo’s school.  T: Yes. Mr Hippo is the guide, Zoom and Zip are the visitors.(板书) Teacher takes out the little flag to explain the word guide. Q2:What do they have in Mr Hippo’s school? I think they have a/an…  2. Read the whole story with dialogic reading way. Library part: Where is it?  What sort of books do you like?  What sort of books does the monkey like? Fun fact:How about Zoom? T: Can Zoom eat in the library? Where can Zoom eat? Music room part: Play a piece of music. Guess: What room is this?  After Ss’s guessing, Teacher ask a question:  T: Music room? But you know dance room needs music too? Who can we ask? (Mr Hippo ) T:Yes, because he is the guide.  Let’s ask together.  Play the words of Mr Hippo.  T: Yes, you are right. It is the music room. Gym and Lunch part: T: Let’s move on.  What room is this?(Gym)  Zoom is happy. Let’s listen what Zoom is talking? Can you find the lunch room? Yes. We can see a cook.  Zoom is hungry. So he can always find the lunch room. Teachers’ office part:  T:Thedooris half-opened. But we can see computers. Q: What room is this?  Arouse Ss to pay attention to Mr Hippo ( the guide) and ask Mr Hippo for sure. Lunch room part: Show a clock.  It’s 12 o’clock. It’stime for lunch. Where will they go? Show the picture of lunch.  T:Do we have a lunch in our school?  Show the picture that Ss are having lunch in the classroom. Read the story with the question: Where is Zoom?  T: They will go to the lunch room, but who is missing? Where is Zoom? Let’s read the story and find the answer.  Why does Zip know where Zoom is? T: Yes.Bestfriends know each other better. 3. Recall the whole story:What places do they visit?  T: Hey! Boys and girls. Do you remember what placesthey visit.  Teacher complete the visit route on the blackboard. T: Good. It is A Visit to Mr Hippo’s School. 4. Watch the story with two questions.  T: Let’s watch the story and learn how to be a guide. Pay attention to the two questions. Q1:What does Mr Hippo do? Q2:What does Mr Hippo say? Step 3 After the story  Create a scene: To be the school guide Show a photo and a poster.  T:You know, every year there are many people come to visit our school, we need more school guides. Do you want to try? To be our school guides? Group work:  T: Now Let’s work in a group, each group is one guide group. Tips:  1. Work as a group.  2. Choose four school places to make a visit route. 3. Each one introduces one place. Show time:  T: Boys and girl, are you ready?
