I Teaching content:A good read II Type of lesson: Study skills III Background information:  Analysis on the Teaching Material:  The content of the lesson is transitions, through the learning of which, I’ll enable students to know more about transitions and their usages in the passage. Also, this lesson is to practice students’writing skills. We should enable students to use proper transitions in their own articles.  Analysis onlearners:  Students have certain basic English knowledge about transitionsand they have learned many transitions before. But they are not content with the limited knowledge obtained from the textbooks. They are eager to learn something knowledgeable and interesting. So in this lesson, I introduce some famous books to students and design some interesting activities to activate them to participate and learn transitions actively and help them keep up their passion, develop the feeling of success and build up self-confidence. IVTeaching aims and learning objectives:  By the end of the class, the students should be able to: 1. know the usages of some common transitions. 2. use proper transitions in their writing  3. experience the feeling of success and cooperate with others in activities. 4. enjoy reading  V Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty  1. know the usages of some common transitions. 2. use proper transitions in their writing VITeaching strategies:  Teaching methods: Task-based method, communicative approach Learning strategies: Autonomic learning and cooperative learning VII Teaching aids: Whiteboard, multimedia  VIIITeaching procedures:  Step 1: Review & warm up (about 2 min) Activity 1. Review  T: In this unit, we have talked a lot about books. And we know that books can open up a whole new world to us. First, let’s have a review of the books we have known. Tell me the name of each book.  Purpose: To activate the students’ priorknowledge. Step 2: Lead in&presentation (about 10mins) Activity1:Beauty and the beast 1)  Watch a video  Purpose: To arouse students’ interest andcreate a kind of relaxing atmosphere.To activate their  desire to learn.  2) Read and answer  T:Read the brief introduction of Beauty and the beastandanswer three questions.  (1). Why was the handsome prince turned into an ugly beast?  (2). When did Belle feel that the Beast was kind and warm-hearted? (3). What can you learn from the story?  Answers: 1) Because he was cold-hearted and made judgments by people’s appearance. 2) When he risked his life fighting off the wolves to save her.   3) Don’t judge a book by its cover.True beauty comes from within.  T: Because and whenare transitions. We use transitions to connect(连接) the ideas.Transitions make the passage more logical(逻辑) and more attractive.  3). Read again and underline the transitions. T: Read again and underline the transitions.  Then discuss in groups: Why are these transitions used?  Purpose: To lead in the topic (transitions) of this lesson by reading the introduction of Beauty and  beast. To help students be engaged in the language environment. To train students’ability to obtain the detailed information from the passage.Toencourage students to think about the usages of different usages.To guide students to learn from different books.  Activity 2:Presentation
