Singapore—A Place You Will Never Forget!    I. Analysis of teaching material  The topic is about fun places. And such a topic is so related to the students’ daily life that it’s easy to arouse students’ learning interests, and we also have a chance to know more about Singapore—a place you will never forget. The article advertises Singapore as a wonderful place to take a holiday. In accordance with the teaching material and the new syllabus of English, I designed the following objectives: II. Teaching objectives  1.Knowledge objectives:  Students can master the important words and expressions, and can use them to show their own opinions.  2. The ability objectives:  To train students’ reading ability: Skim for the main idea and scan for specific information. Enable the students to advertise other wonderful places with some new expressions in this article.  3. The moral objectives  Let the students know more about places outside of China and wonderful places in China. Enjoy traveling and enjoy the nice world.  Enable the students to think about what to consider before traveling. III. Teaching key points and difficult points To let the students answering questions before reading. To let the students use new expressions freely and correctly. IV. Analysis of the students  Students in Grade 8 have learned English for some years. And they can communicate with others in English, using the simple words and expressions. If the teacher can create their interest in what they are learning, they will learn it well.  V. Teaching approaches and learning ways  1. Teaching approaches:  Task-based language teaching approach; Situational teaching approach; Audio-visual teaching approach.  2. Learning ways:  Cooperation; Self –studying.  2    VI. Teaching procedures  教学过程设计  Part 1 Before class: warming-up.  教学环节  教学活动  设计意图 Warming-  up  Enjoy some wonderful places.  Let the students talk about places they will never forget and tell the reasons. Sum up the reasons together.    让学生带着思考去 欣赏图片,感染学生,渗透本节课相关主题,为接下来的环节做铺垫。  Part 2 Pre-reading  教学环节 教学活动  设计意图  Pre- reading  Tell the students that Liu Mei, a girl lives in Tianjin, has been to a place she will never forget.  It’s a small island in Southeast Asia. It’s close to the equator. It’s called a garden city! Ss: Singapore!      Read the article and try to find out why Liu Mei found it unforgettable.  引入天津女孩刘梅, 并猜测令她难忘的地方是何处?为何难忘?一起阅读文章或 许可以知道原因。带着问题去阅读文章。  Part 3 While-reading  教学环节 教学活动  设计意图 Fast- reading  T:How many para.s are there? Ss:4.  T: What are mentioned about Singapore?  帮助学生掌握文章结构, 理清文章脉络。为接下来的仔细阅 3     Skim the article quickly to find out what each para. talks about. (板书:Language,food, interesting place, temperature.)  读做好充足铺垫。  Careful- reading  T: Le’s scan the article for more details. What to speak? Why? Just read para.1. …  T: Will Liu Mei have any problem communicating with people there? ( I mean will she find it difficult to talk to people there?) Ss: No.  T: Can you tell the reasons without looking at the your book?  带着问题阅读,将第一段以思维导图的形式逐渐呈现在学生面前,引导学生充分了 解新加坡的语言。 然后提供语言支架,帮助学生复述第一段。
